What we help with
Online therapy for anxiety
Anxiety is your body’s alarm system doing its job a little too well. A racing heart before a presentation is normal. Worry that follows you to bed, keeps you from things you care about, or arrives out of nowhere is worth talking about.
Signs you might recognise
Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people start therapy, and one of the most treatable. You do not need to wait until it is “bad enough”.
Recognising yourself in a few of these does not mean something is wrong with you. It means it may be worth a conversation.
- Worry that feels hard to control or jumps from topic to topic
- Tight chest, racing heart, shaky hands or an unsettled stomach
- Avoiding places, people or tasks because of how they make you feel
- Trouble falling asleep because your mind keeps running
- Feeling irritable, on edge or easily startled
- Sudden waves of intense fear (panic attacks)
How therapy helps
Your therapist will suggest an approach based on what you want to change. Common ones include:
- 1
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
Learn to spot the thought patterns that feed worry and test them against what actually happens.
- 2
Exposure-based work
Approach the things you avoid in small, planned steps, at your pace, until they lose their grip.
- 3
Acceptance and mindfulness skills
Change your relationship with anxious thoughts so they take up less room.
Three things you can try today
- Slow your exhale. Breathing out for longer than you breathe in tells your nervous system it is safe.
- Name it: “this is anxiety, and it passes.” Labelling a feeling takes some of its force away.
- Cut back on caffeine for a week and notice what changes.

Common questions
Can online therapy help with anxiety?
Yes. Anxiety is one of the concerns online therapy is most often used for, and studies of therapy by video have generally found results similar to therapy in person. What matters most is working with a therapist you trust.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Structured approaches such as CBT often run between six and twenty sessions. You and your therapist will review progress regularly, and you can stop whenever you feel ready.
Is it anxiety or just stress?
Stress usually has a clear cause and eases when the pressure does. Anxiety tends to persist, attach itself to many things and show up in the body. A therapist can help you tell them apart, and our free GAD-7 self-test is a useful first check.
