Online therapy
Online therapy in Ireland
Counselling and psychotherapy from anywhere in Ireland, city or countryside. No referral, no waiting list, and you choose your own therapist.
Why people choose online therapy in Ireland
Start in days
Public mental health services do vital work, but waiting times can be long. Private online therapy can begin this week.
Wherever you live
In rural areas the nearest therapist may be a long drive away, or someone you know. Online removes the distance.
Private
Nobody sees you walk into a practice. For many people in small communities that makes starting possible.

Therapy titles in Ireland
Statutory regulation of counsellors and psychotherapists is being introduced through CORU, the health and social care regulator, but the registers are not yet open. Until then the titles are not protected by law.
In the meantime, look for accreditation with a recognised professional body such as IACP or IAHIP, or membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland for psychologists.
Your therapist may live anywhere in the world, but everyone we match you with is accredited to practise for clients in Ireland.
Every mymind profile shows the therapist’s title and the body they are accredited with, so you can check it yourself.
If you need help right now
mymind is not an emergency service. These services are.

Common questions
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can start with mymind directly. Telling your GP can still be useful, particularly if medication might help.
Can I claim sessions back on health insurance?
Some Irish health insurers refund part of the cost of counselling or psychotherapy, depending on your plan and your therapist’s accreditation. Every session comes with an itemised receipt from mymind. Check with your insurer first.
How do I know a therapist is properly qualified?
Until CORU registration opens, check that they are accredited by a recognised professional body such as IACP or IAHIP. We verify this before a therapist joins and show it on their profile.
